Explore the Sahara desert on a 2-day trip from Fez to Marrakech via Merzouga. Ride a camel, savor dinner under the starry sky, and experience the Moroccon desert with a Berber show around a fire pit.
Day 1 Fez -Ifrane – Midelt – Ziz valley- Merzouga
Today, Pick up at 07.30 am from your hotel/riad. Travel from Fez to the Merzouga desert but this will not be any ordinary drive. Stop along the way at a number of enjoyable destinations.
The first stop will be Ifrane, the alpine-style townhome to ski slopes and cedar forests situated in Morocco’s Middle Atlas Mountains to observe/feed the Barbary Monkey.
Moving to the popular pitstop of Midelt (break for lunch) before carrying on through the lush green Ziz Valley and making a stop in Erfoud before reaching Merzouga. Upon arrival at Merzouga, transfer to the hotel to store your luggage, the camels will be waiting for you for a camel trekking experience (around 45 min).
Enjoy the sunset on camelback to nomad tents where you will have dinner under the starry sky with a Berber folklore show (overnight desert camp).
Day 2: Transfer Merzouga – Marrakech
Wake up early to enjoy the sunrise on the Sahara dunes. After that, ride the camelback again to the riad/hotel for breakfast and a shower. Then, be ready for an amazing drive to Marrakech passing by, Kelaat Mgouna, Dades valley, sakura, and Ouarzazate. lunch at Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah.
Continue the trip crossing High Atlas Mountains, Tizi n’Tichka pass (2260 min altitude) while enjoying superb views and Berber Villages on the way. Finally, on arrival in Marrakech, transfer to your hotel or riad to end the Desert trip.
