Day 1
After getting picked up from your hotel in Fes, head southeast to Merzouga, passing through several cities in the Middle Atlas mountain range along the way. Stop at Ifran, also known as “the Switzerland of Morocco”, to admire its alpine-like architecture and picturesque forests before heading to Azrou and the famous cedar forest where you can spot some Barbary apes if you’re lucky.
Travel through the desert town of Arrichidia and notice how the scenery changes from mountains to deserts and Berber villages as you make your way to Merzouga, stopping for lunch along the way.Â
Upon arrival in Merzouga, receive a welcome glass of mint tea before checking into your riad. Enjoy some time to relax before mounting a camel to take a ride into the sand dunes, where you will spend the night at a fully equipped camp. Enjoy entertainment from local drummers and musicians as the sun sets over the Sahara.Â
Day 2
Rise early today to watch what may be the best sunrise of your life. Afterward, trek back from the camp to the riad where your breakfast will be waiting. After breakfast in your riad, depart for Fes. Pass through the stunning rose gold dunes of the Ziz Valley and back through Errashidia to reach Fes by the evening.
