Une fois arrivé à Imlil, Jamel, mon guide, m’a pris en charge. Thé et autres spécialités pour m’accueillir et m’expliquer le programme du séjour. Ensuite c’est parti pour 2 jours de folie dans l’Atlas et les différents villages berbères. Des vues imprenables sur les montagnes et collines de l’Atlas, découverte de village et de la culture berbère à travers les repas chez l’habitant et les rencontres des populations locales. Perfect trip if you are willing to explore Maroko deeper into country to see mountains and some interesting locations. Be prepared you spend almost all 2 days in car, travelling across country. Several stops are for taking pictures and buying presents. One stop is made in village to have 40 minutes walking up to "castle" where you have lunch. Then you continue to camp site, which you reach by one hour camel ride by sunset. Camp alone is very nice place with good dinner after which you can dance by fire. Get up early in the morning to climb to nearby mountain to see sunrise and get perfect pictures. Small sand dunes led you back to camp for breakfast and half hour camel ride back to car. Another 7 hour trip back awaits you, roads are curvy and bumpy. We visited film studios on way back which where Gladiator movie was filmed. My special thanks goes to very patient, nice and very skilled driver Mohamed who was always very kind, helpful and willing to fulfill our wishes. Thanks a lot
A small bus picked us up at Jamaa el Fna. From there we drove about two hours to Imlil, where we were dropped off and met our guide, Mustapha. He welcomed us with tea and introduced us to Omar, our cook. Mustapha explained our trekking route and shortly after, we started our hike. Throughout the first day we experienced Morroco's beautiful and breathtaking views. After our hike on day one, we slept in a Berber home and ate dinner there. The next day we hiked through a valley and over a pass. Lastly we had a delicious lunch and said goodbye to Mustapha and Omar. Omar cooked us very delicious and traditional food, which made this experience even more positive. Mustapha was a great guide. He answered every question we had, introduced us to their culture and made us feel like we are part of his family. He fulfilled every wish of ours and turned this two day trip into an experience we will never forget.
This was a great tour, I would highly recommend it! Our guide was Abdel Aziz, a super nice guy that made our trip very pleasant. The scenery during the hike was amazing, and the hike itself was at a perfect level. Also, the night at the guesthouse in the Berber village was really nice, albeit a bit cold. There were two downsides to the service: I had WhatsApp contact with the service provider about the details of our trip, but he was usually very slow to reply (whenever he replied at all). And the trip ended on the second day at 13:00. I think we could have spent more time in the mountains walking another route.
The 2-day trip into the Atlas mountains was exactely what we expected: a stunning landscape, a nice hike (more 4 than 6 hours) and insights into the berber culture. Our guide Mustafa was very friendly, attentive and always knew how to put a smile on our faces The food was delicious, thanks to Hassan and Abdul! We can really recommed the trip!
